Time Out Cyprus was first published in Cyprus in February of 2002.

The magazine belongs to the international Time Out brand, which is available in 25 countries and 35 cities all over the world, and includes a total of 135 publications or websites.  Since its first publication, Time Out has won the attention of readers and is constantly the top monthly publication in Cyprus. Time Out is considered to be the most valid and informative guide for outings and entertainment. Every month the magazine gives opinions and criticises, presents and recommends the best choices in movies, theatre, bars, clubs, music, art and restaurants while the pages are filled with various features. Since 2005, the magazine has launched the Time Out Eating Awards aiming to award the best restaurants in Cyprus. It’s no wonder why Time Out is considered the N.1 entertainment guide and the number one monthly magazine in Cyprus, since every month more than 94,142 (average) readers chose it!

Time Out readers are those who want to be informed. People, who want to travel, go out and always want to know their options for entertainment especially what is new and fresh in Cyprus. Time Out Eating Awards


Time out Eating Awards, the biggest gastronomical awards in Cyprus are been organised for another year in order to award the top restaurants of the island and are celebrating their 13th year anniversary.

Time Out the number one entertainment guide of Cyprus organises the awards with the intention of upgrading the quality of the islands’ gastronomy and award the best. The thirteen-year experience and knowledge have made the Time Out Eating Awards a unique institution in Cyprus which can proudly admit that it knows the local eating out options.  The Time Out Eating Awards are an international institution and are organised by almost all the Time Out publications in the world. Time Out has a responsibility and consistency towards its readers, restaurant owners and chefs that want to stand out in the intensively competitive worlds of gastronomy.

With love towards nature and the rich ingredients it offers, the best are awarded. Those who showcase and respect nature and create the tastiest memories of the year!

The following ten categories are awarded: Best New Restaurant, Fish, International Cuisine, Hotel Restaurant (restaurant who work on hotel premises and are not in any other categories), Bar/Restaurant, Tavern, Souvlaki, Nice Price (restaurants who serve quality food at a low price), Mediterranean Cuisine as well as Best Beer Place (place that offers good food combined with good beer).  Every year the “Readers Award” is also given to the restaurant that collects the most votes from readers regardless its category. In order to be nominated, each restaurant must have high quality standards and continually develop its services. With the criteria of food quality, dish presentation, food hygiene, atmosphere inside and outside the restaurant, service time, customer service, wine list and price versus quality, the final decisions are made for each category. In addition honorary awards are given to the Chef of the Year, Cypriot product of the Year and Best Wine List at a restaurant award.

Time out and its 40-member award committee select the nominees and vote. The process begins in May and the nominees are published in July’s issue. Readers can vote through the magazine’s website , by phone or through a ballot which is inserted in the magazine, and at the same time they have the opportunity to win prizes. The voting process closes at the beginning of October and the award ceremony is in November where Time Out Awards are presented and restaurant owners and chefs are honoured.
